The Japanese car maker presented their new 2019 Toyota C-HR model at the L.A. Auto Show in 2016. The C-segment crossover made an instant impact with its aggressive styling and powerful drivetrain. On top of that, advanced suspension and new steering system made C-HR one of the best vehicles in its segment. There are two trim levels available, XLE and XLE Premium, and both are more than well equipped.

The interior is comfortable with new modern gadgets and amenities, while the exterior looks better than ever, with 18-inch wheels, are now standard on all models.

With the sloping roof and C-pillar-mounted door handles, the 2019 Toyota C-HR looks better than ever. It looks both sporty and aggressive, some will say that the Toyota’s designer exceeded the expectations. C-HR comes with somewhat larger headlights with black accents between them. Front bumper is completely redesigned, and the side received new bodyline that runs through the fender arches and lower door panels. At the back, large LED taillights are boomerang-shaped and the bumper below comes with faux vents. There are more black moldings around the wheel arches, and wheels are 18-inch alloy, with black painted pockets.

The interior of 2019 Toyota C-HR is very comfortable. The dashboard comes with some chrome work and matt and gloss finishes as well. A 7-inch screen is standard, just like HVAC controls that are now more intuitive.

Those controls are shown on a smaller driver information screen that is placed between two analog gauges. The shifter knob is made of satin chrome and with leather boot. At the back, rear passengers may struggle a little bit, with three persons at the rear seats are not recommended, especially for longer trips. When it comes to hauling your cargo, the rear seats can be folded and it will provide more than enough space.

Standard and Optional Features

With the standard equipment of the trim Toyota C-HR XLE you will get many things like dual-zone automatic climate control, 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB inputs, 10 airbags, auto-dimming rearview mirror, electronic parking brake and also brake-hold feature for traffic. This trim will also offer Toyota Safety Sense P suite. This suit will add lane-departure alert with steering assist, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and active cruise control with much more.

However, the R-code trim will add a white roof and certain colors. The much more will offer XLE Premium trim. If you go for this you will get extra features like push-button ignition and keyless entry, project light that adds “Toyota C-HR” on the ground, this light will be positioned under the outside mirrors, fog lights and silk fabric on the seats. The XLE Premium trim will also offer blind-spot monitoring. We must add that there is no factory navigation system in this model. However, also the features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Toyota’s in-house Entune system will not be in standard equipment.

2019 Toyota C-HR Engine Specifications

The all-new 2019 Toyota C-HR comes with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood. It makes 145 HP and 140 pound-feet of torque. This drivetrain uses variable valve timing in order to generate power and is mated to an automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. The manual transmission is not available, at least not yet. This model is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 in 11 sec. The top speed is 115 mph.

The C-HR model comes with a couple of new systems like a Preloaded Differential system that will distribute torque evenly during the lower speed. The throttle is now more responsive thanks to Engaging Sport Mode. At the back, a double-wishbone suspension is added. The C-HR is the first Toyota’s model to use this feature and this type of suspension is providing more comfortable ride and better handling.

The new model 2019 Toyota C-HR will be very economy SUV. It comes with EPA highway fuel economy of about 31 mpg and 27 mpg in the city. However, we must mention that this model will be only available with the front wheel drive system. There is no all-wheel-drive system in this year model.

The 2019 Toyota C-HR Hybrid model is coming with advanced Hybrid Synergi Drive® drive and 10 years warranty for the battery. The package will also include LED daytime running lights, electrically adjustable, Automatic air conditioning with two zones, Bluetooth hands-free calling, back up camera, 17-inch alloy wheels and 2, 8″ touchscreen.

As for the safety, this model will be available with Pre Collision System, Pre Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert and Road Sign Assist. This model will consist of a 1,8-liter engine and an electric motor. The battery will be charge by the 1,8-liter engine. The total output is 120 HP. According to manufacturer, it will able to give a fuel economy of 74.3mpg. 

2019 Toyota C-HR Price and Release Date

Toyota didn’t provide information about the pricing but some sources say that the price will remain almost the same. Additionally, the 2019 C-HR will cost slightly higher than the RAV4 model. It means that the 2019 Toyota C-HR will cost around $25,500. Toyota’s new crossover should hit the markets next year, probably in the first half of 2019. The main competitor is Nissan Juke.
