Pricing Unveiled for 2019 Subaru Ascent

The Japanese manufacturer Subaru introduced the new largest SUV model in its range. It can accommodate up to 8 passengers. After the concept debuted at the New York Motor Show in April, the company also revealed in Los Angeles the production version of the 2019 Subaru Ascent. The SUV should be the strong competitor in the 3-row mid-size segment in the US market.

A 197-inches long vehicle has a wheelbase of 114 inches. Width is 76 inches and 8-seat is the maximum configuration of the crossover. The 2019 Subaru Ascent will compete Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, and Nissan Pathfinder. The battle will happen in the US since the Ascent is going to appear exclusively in North America.

2019 Subaru Ascent Design

The Ascent is a brand new product based on the Subaru Global platform. It has been enhanced and extended for this SUV. So, the 2019 Subaru Ascent will come in 4 packages of equipment: Base, Premium, Limited and Touring. Subaru claims that the rear door opens at an angle of 75 degrees which makes it easier to access the third row of seats. As many as 19 cup holders, Ascent will also offer eight USB charging ports. There is also a 120-volt socket located at the back of the center console. The three-zone automatic climate comes with a base version with large air intakes for all three rows of seats.

Safety

As part of the standard equipment, 2019 Subaru Ascent will offer various safety assistants. Buyers of the crossover will find collision alert system, active lane control, and automatic braking. Subaru will add more features on the higher trims, and the Touring model will be the safest in the lineup.

2019 Subaru Ascent Specs

The design of the production-ready 2019 Subaru Ascent did not change significantly the concept we saw in New York. So, under the hood is still a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder unit that can deliver 260 hp at 5,600 rpm and 277 lb-ft of torque between 2,000 and 4,800 rpm. The power is transferred to the wheels via the CVT gearbox. The transmission has eight manual shift modes.

Mileage

The company didn’t come out with exact numbers for the MPG rating, but we assume the 2019 Subaru Ascent will land at the expected range. For example, one of its main rival, Toyota Highlander, also uses turbocharger for its four-cylinder unit. It delivers 25 mpg on the highway. However, better mileage is provided with a V-6 engine. All its rivals can go around 23 mpg combined. To be competitive right from its start, 2019 Ascent will have to take a similar position.

2019 Subaru Ascent MSRP

Subaru announced the price list for the brand-new Ascent. They are not going to take advantage of cheaper price. In this segment details are decisive. All mentioned crossovers have similar outputs, mileage, equipment, size, and at the end, the price. That is why 2019 Subaru Ascent will start from $32,000.

However, the company still hasn’t unveiled all prices for its crossover. We don’t doubt that Ascent will get more trims with higher cost and more equipment. Experts predict it will go up to $43,000, while most of the buyers will opt for mid-range models priced around 35,000 dollars.
