The upcoming 2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan is a crossover SUV, named after the largest diamond ever found. It is a luxurious SUV that can beat any terrain and it offers stunning reliability and comfort. While Rolls-Royce has no history in making SUVs, the company revealed an interest in making one, a couple of years ago. It all started as an idea with no clear picture of vehicle’s proportions or even a shape.
However, in 2015, things are drastically changing, and Royce started a production of its first crossover SUV. The 2019 Cullinan mixes styling cues taken from some of the company’s vehicles and it looks gorgeous. After some images that are leaked, we can say for sure that the new Cullinan is coming, and it will challenge likes of Bentley Bentayga.
2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan Exterior Details and Colors
The new 2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan will share plenty of styling cues with the Rolls-Royce Phantom model. As a matter of fact, Cullinan is based on the same aluminum architecture as the Phantom and sits on the same platform. On top of that, when spy shots leaked, it became clear that the Cullinan will come with the same chrome grille and headlights as well. However, the part below the front grille looks unique and in a different configuration and taller bumper. It comes with a curb weight of nearly 6150 pounds, this is 500 pounds more than the base Phantom model.
From the side, the roof looks longer and the rear section is kinda boxy, so the 2019 Cullinan will arrive with a more old-school appearance and less modern, as almost all new sporty crossovers. On the other hand, we can see plenty of brand’s trademark design cues such as high beltline, a coach doors, huge moonroof and the elegant thin-spoke wheels. At the back, the taillights are exactly the same as on the Phantom sedan model. However, the newest model will be available in only two different color options Red and Gray.
2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan Interior is modern
The interior of the forthcoming 2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan is elegant and modern. Not surprisingly, the interior is identical to the new Phantom’s interior. Most of the elements are exactly the same, and even in the same layout. Massive dash that comes with a large infotainment display, wider center console and huge A/C vents are the same.
The cabin is packed with wood and aluminum materials, and the seats are wrapped in finest Alcantara and leather materials. Of course, everything inside the cabin is customizable, so the customers can opt for different layouts, finishes, and even interior color. As of the colors, the upcoming model will get few options like White, Black, Red, Gray. Furthermore, the cabin is quiet and comfy, and the rear seats are almost equally luxurious as the front ones.
Safety System and Crash Test
With the all-new aluminum platform architecture, the newest 2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan features high-end safety equipment. We will separate some of them because the list is too long. The new model comes like the Phantom with standard features like Rolls-Royce Assist Emergency S.O.S, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Front and Rear Parking Sensors, Forward Collision, Lane Departure Warning, Low Tire Pressure Warning, Rear Child Safety Locks, 360 view camera.
The highlight of the 2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan is the new Night Vision camera, that will make dark nights most time visible. However, in the crash test, the Phantom model gain great score of 5 stars and we also expect the same number in the new one.
2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan Engine and Gearbox Details
The 2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan is likely to arrive with a single drivetrain option, and it is speculated that the new Cullinan will use the same engine as the new Ghost model. It is a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 unit that is capable of producing up to 600 HP and 600 lb-ft of torque.
Those numbers will put the 2019 Cullinan in the second place of the most powerful Rolls-Royces after the Wraith model. Another speculation is leading us to the Phantom’s drivetrain option, a 6.75-liter V12 engine. This model makes 563 HP and 664 lb-ft of torque. It will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD.
Furthermore, from some rumors, it will go from 0 to 60 mph in less than five sec. Furthermore, the Rolls-Royce quoted top speed of 155 mph. Hybrid is still not on the cards, and there is a big question about this category.
2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan Price and Release Date
The approaching 2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan will cost somewhere in range as Bentley Bentayga. So we could expect a price in the range of $250,000 or 300,000. However, the price could easily go up and make 2019 Cullinan one of the most expensive SUV in the world.
From the same manufacturer, the Phantom model starts at $420,325. Royce’s latest crossover SUV will go on sale later this year, and U.S. markets will have to wait a couple of months longer.
