2020 Porsche Macan Changes, Turbo, GT3 RS

The new Macan is going to try to achieve 100k sold units. The last time it was on the verge of completing such a record. With all changes we could see on the 2020 Porsche Macan, this should become the reality. Stepped into the market soon after Cayenne, the smaller luxury crossover SUV made an immediate impact. Now, it is a flagship model that will come in GTS, Turbo, and Turbo S variants.

If you saw something about Porsche Majun, that could be the new model. Its name is shortened from Macan Junior.  However, this is a smaller vehicle that has no many things in common with its famous stablemate. Also, 2020 Macan Junior is not likely to happen yet. On the other hand, true fans can’t wait for new upgrades for upper trim levels on the new crossover. The base model is being redesigned for 2019 season, so there won’t be too many changes on the 2020 year vehicle.

Under the hood of the 2020 Porsche Macan will be a 2.0-liter turbo-four unit. With it, the new crossover can achieve 248 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. It is a downgrade from the previous version for 5 horsepower. The transmission is the same as before. A seven-speed automatic gearbox is power router to all wheels. No two-wheel drive is available for 2020 Macan. This setup will allow the crossover to sprint 0-60 mph in just 6 seconds (properly equipped). The base model needs 0.3 seconds more.

Upper trims bring more power. Macan S is using a 3.0-liter turbocharged engine for 340 hp and 340 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is the same, and this model comes with various upgrades, not only for the drivetrain. Properly equipped, it turns into 2020 Porsche Macan GTS. In this variant, drivers are getting 360 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque.

At the top of the range, we will find the 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo model. This one is using a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 setup. Standard configuration is capable to deliver 400 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. However, the Sport Performance Package will add another 40 horsepower. This is the best version if you want to tow a lot. The 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo can pull 4,500 pounds.

2020 Porsche Macan GT3 RS

Porsche is delivering more and more racing-oriented vehicles with GT3 RS badge. One of the next models to arrive could be the crossover. The 2020 Porsche Macan GT3 RS is being tested at Nurburgring, and rumors say it is using a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V6. With this drivetrain, fans can expect outputs of 500 hp and top speed over 180mph. Porsche 911 GT3 RS is also using this engine, and if we add some weight, we believe the 2020 Macan will be able to stop the clock at just above 3 seconds for 0-60 mph sprint.

The new Macan is coming for 2019. It will suffer a facelift and most of the changes are on the front fascia. Whatsoever, the company will do a small refresh for the 2020 Porsche Macan. We believe cosmetic updates for the cabin are the focus. Currently, the premium interior offer includes large screens, a lot of safety systems, and infotainment accessories. The new model will bring this to another level.

The German carmaker is not going to rush with the premiere of the 2020 Porsche Macan. However, the major addition is definitely GT3 RS version. So, this one needs a spectacle for a debut.

The price for the base model will remain the same. The premium crossover is pretty expensive, starting above $50,000. However, buyers of this luxury model will seek more power, and the cheapest V6 model sits at $60,000. Add a larger displacement, and the 2020 Porsche Macan will be already at $80,000. Extra 40 hp for the Turbo model with Sport Package will cost $10k more. The new 2020 Macan GT3 RS goes over $100,000.
