The 2020 Nissan Pathfinder could be a star of the upcoming season. The company is preparing the new generation of the SUV. Besides the redesign, there is a big chance for a hybrid drivetrain to reappear after discontinuation in 2014. Furthermore, designers are preparing new colors and paintjobs. Interior is getting a completely new look. With so many changes and updates, the 2020 Pathfinder will be the model to follow.
Fans will be happy to see a hybrid drivetrain, mainly because of the gas mileage. This kind of engine is still available in Australia and New Zealand. However, future 2020 Nissan Pathfinder will not be all about fuel economy and performance. The mid-size three-row SUV is overhauling the interior. It will still be able to accommodate up to seven persons. A Midnight edition will probably miss the 2019 edition, but in 2020 we will see more features and accessories for this trim level.
Future 2020 Nissan Pathfinder Redesign
The SUV had a facelift in 2017. However, the evolution in the SUV segment is very fast, so companies have to update their vehicles every couple of years. That is why we believe the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder redesign is on the way. This time the number of changes will be bigger than the last time. In 2017 we saw changes on the front and rear fascia. The facelift also added a new engine. Few other minor changes in the cabin were there, but now, the Pathfinder is ready for the complete redesign inside.
2020 Pathfinder Interior
The SUV is a three-row model that can accommodate seven passengers. Previously, the Pathfinder was known as a spacious mid-size SUV. The new layout will improve the comfort for travelers, especially those in the third row. However, taller persons will still need extra space, so this bench is the most suitable for children. The redesign still adds leg- and headroom for the second-row occupants.
Besides that, the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder interior will get a brand-new dashboard. The control panel comes with new gauges, steering wheel, and the infotainment system. The last big facelift brought cup holders and other small functional updates, but now the SUV is ready for more useful upgrades.
NissanConnect Infotainment New Generation
The new generation of the Pathfinder will bring the next-gen NissanConnect system. It is already one of the most advanced services in the competition, but Nissan is a leader in this segment. They are always looking for more and we are eager to see what it could introduce. Expect nothing but stunning apps and features. However, Navigation and premium audio will be optional again, we can be sure of that.
Dimensions
After the redesign, Nissan will introduce the new Pathfinder. The dimensions of the SUV could be increased. If the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder gains extra inches it would be very useful for the interior. Passengers are getting more space and cargo area would become roomier. Building the Pathfinder on the same platform won’t affect driving. Well, the longer and wider vehicle are going to be rougher for handling, but only professionals will notice this. The SUV will also put on some weight. But, improvements in the engine room and lightweight materials in the body will keep the gas mileage at the same or lower level. For the hybrid, this is not going to make too many troubles.
2020 Nissan Pathfinder Colors and Midnight Edition
Some of the most significant changes for the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder will come for the color palette. The company hasn’t updated the paintjobs for a while and the new SUV is a perfect chance to do so. With new colors, buyers will be able to pick, which makes Pathfinder more appealing.
The special paintjob, as always, is being prepared for 2020 Nissan Pathfinder Midnight Edition. This is a package of features that boost the appearance of many Nissan vehicles. Among others that offered this trim level was the Pathfinder. In 2020 we will see more options. Designers will update the interior with special color schemes, badging, and other details.
2020 Pathfinder Platinum
The Midnight Edition might be the most appealing, but with the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum, we are getting the best of the SUV. Well, we will have to pay for it. Current model costs over $42,000. That is $10k more than the base unit. Expect even the huger gap in 2020. Also have in mind that Platinum package for Pathfinder brings navigation, bigger alloy wheels, premium audio system, and other unique upgrades. The 2020 Pathfinder Platinum will be very close to luxury segment of the mid-size SUV class.

2020 Nissan Pathfinder Specs
The 2020 Nissan Pathfinder will still use the same 3.5-liter V-6 engine as the base unit. This is the only option for buyers in the US at the moment. However, there are some rumors mentioning the addition of a turbocharged-four drivetrain that will be able to match the performance of a V-6. Until this becomes real, we will rely on the good-old powertrain.
For the upcoming season, engineers could tune it to make more power and improve gas mileage. However, this will also depend on the overall weight. If the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder becomes bigger, then weight difference slows down the process. Anyway, the new SUV will get at least 290 hp and 260 lb-ft from the same V-6 unit. A CVT transmission and FWD are standard, and buyers can opt for an all-wheel drive model.
Hybrid
The 2020 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid is something is something worth of waiting for. Well, this kind of a drivetrain should have been already on the market. Nissan is late, but we are sure they will make it up to all fans with a special drivetrain. In Australia, the SUV is still using the old setup that includes the supercharged four-pot engine. It is time for a redesign and the new model, which will change hybrid drivetrain in Australia and launch it in the US as well.
2020 Nissan Pathfinder Gas Mileage
The current edition of the SUV returns 20/27 mpg with front-wheel drive setup. The range drops by 1 mpg in each segment with an AWD equipped. The new 2020 Nissan Pathfinder will try to improve the gas mileage. But, with the same engine and possible weight increase, we wouldn’t count on some huge upgrade.
On the other hand, that is why 2020 Pathfinder Hybrid is coming. The drivetrain will show its advantages in city drive, where it can match highway mpg rating. From the new system, we can expect to offer around 30 mpg combined. This would be an excellent fuel economy that will top the output of a Toyota Highlander hybrid, as the only mid-size three-row SUV with such powertrain.
Towing Capacity
Another segment where everyone expects upgrades. The current edition is one of the best in a class model with a towing capacity of 6,000 pounds. Many of its rivals stay under 5,000 lbs. The new 2020 Nissan Pathfinder will at least keep these numbers. On the other hand, the Pathfinder Hybrid is not so capable of this, so the towing ability will radically drop, no matter what kind of a hybrid drivetrain it is about to use.
2020 Nissan Pathfinder Release Date
The Japanese company is going to introduce the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder as soon as possible. However, the SUV is not going to be available for purchase until late 2019. Expect the 2020 Pathfinder to appear either at the next Detroit Auto Show or in New York in April 2019.
