The third generation of the Murano mid-size SUV started in 2014. Ever since this vehicle had no bigger updates. Now, with 2019 Nissan Murano, we will see the first redesign. Spy shots of the crossover are already there, but unfortunately, fans can’t get too many details from them. Refresh is obvious, although it seems that vehicle keeps the same dimensions. Whatsoever, next season, Murano could launch a hybrid version to be more competitive, especially to Toyota Highlander.
Another hint we have about the 2019 Nissan Murano is a possible return of the CrossCabriolet convertible SUV. This model had a short stint before the arrival of the third-gen. With it and hybrid, the next Murano could be a more serious competitor on the market. A mid-size segment is full of similar vehicles, so the versatility of Nissan’s SUV could be decisive.
2019 Nissan Murano Redesign
For the next Murano, Nissan decided to bring many changes. Exterior will suffer many modifications. However, we will be still able to recognize the good-old SUV. Front fascia will carry new bumper, revisited grille, and reshaped lights. Also, the crossover could get extra ground clearance. With it, the off-road capabilities are going to be way better. The rear end also gets a redesign.
The current version of the crossover gives a buyer an offer with seven different paintjobs. The new 2019 Nissan Murano will add at least two more colors. The standard offer also includes 18-inch wheels. On high-end versions, we will find 20-inchers.
As every Nissan, this one is packed with the latest infotainment and entertaining systems. Depending on trims, we can find some stunning features and accessories. For example, even the base models will offer drive assist features, such as a 7-inch display with navigation. Auto braking and rearview monitor are also key features in the safety system. The push button is now standard on most models sold in the US. The comfort in the 2019 Nissan Murano will also be on the highest level. Thanks to the revisit, dual-zone automatic climate control is better than before. We can also mention that new SUV will have SiriusXM radio, as well as an audio system with six speakers. Premium trims are getting more speakers and more functions. Finally, we still don’t know if 2019 Murano will offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay features on its entry-level model.
2019 Nissan Murano Trim Levels
Versatility is going to be the main strength of 2019 Nissan Murano. Current edition for 2018 season has five trim levels, and every of these is available in two variants. But, it is not enough. The next SUV will add more. Well, not classic trim levels, but new models. However, until we get a confirmation about Murano hybrid and convertible SUV, we will count on existing versions.
And everything starts with S crossover. The next one is SV, with 10-way power seat for the driver, and 4-way power seats for passengers. The SL costs already significantly higher. But, the level of the equipment is on the next level. However, it is still not close to special Midnight Edition, and way under 2019 Murano Platinum. Some of the items we are getting on this model will not change. For example, huge 20-inch wheels, power moonroof, and heating for seats are making it so special.
Return of the CrossCabriolet
During the second generation of the SUV, we could see its special convertible version. Although the idea was interesting, this model had no big success. However, the Japanese carmaker is ready to give another try to the CrossCabriolet as a part of 2019 Nissan Murano lineup. The return fans are waiting for five years is just a rumor for now. However, it is more realistic than before.
2019 Nissan Murano specs
The versatility of trim levels is not carried over to the engine room. The SUV is using only one drivetrain and setup. It is reliable and durable 3.6-liter V-6. The proven drivetrain also delivers enough energy for a drive. However, buyers would like to see more powerful or more economical options.
Until that happens, 2019 Nissan Murano will stick up to 3.6- unit. For all trim levels, it delivers equal power. A V-6 is capable to create 260 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is not so great with 24 mpg combined in FWD mode. An Xtronic continuously variable automatic is an old partner, so Nissan is not going to change it.
Although we could see in 2016 a hybrid vehicle, we can’t call this the return. Back then, Murano used a 2.5-liter supercharged engine as the base. It didn’t return results Nissan was hoping to see. Now, the same drivetrain the base unit is using could be the main generator of power for a hybrid version.
However, these stories are only rumors at this point. But, with Toyota Highlander already offered with such drivetrain, it is just a matter of time when Murano will get an electrification. Other companies that produce mid-size crossovers are also considering the same. So, very soon, we will see these SUVs running both on conventional and hybrid energy.
2019 Nissan Murano Spy Shots and Release Date
Since spy shots are there, we are already in 2018, we can expect to have official confirmation of 2019 Nissan Murano very soon. However, no one can confirm when it is going to happen. The most certain situation is to set a release date for the end of this year. Sales could start shortly after the debut or early next year.
Price and Competitors
Another info all fans are waiting to hear is the price. Well, the predecessors of the 2019 Nissan Murano had an attractive cost, so there is no doubt that the next model will continue the tradition. That means, Murano starts again under $30,000. However, more packages and extra features will launch Midnight Edition close to $45,000, and Platinum model maybe even over $50k.
Well, all other companies are using the same strategy. Also, all vehicles in the same category cost pretty much the same. Details are key for the decision, so it is all up to buyers’ preferences. Alternatives to 2019 Nissan Murano will be Toyota Highlander, Kia Sorento, and VW Atlas.
