2019 Mitsubishi ASX Facelift and Specs

The crossover with various names for different markets, 2019 Mitsubishi ASX will be available also as RVR and Outlander Sport. The regular Outlander is not capable to fight Honda CR-V or Toyota Rav4 with its features, performance, and overall offer. So, the carmaker prepared the better and stronger edition. The ASX badge is known in most of the world. Buyers in Canada and Japan are buying the RVR, and US version is Outlander Sport.

For the upcoming season, the 2019 Mitsubishi ASX will see a facelift. The model is already eight years old, but the company is still not ready for next-gen. This move requires big investments. Instead, Mitsubishi is upgrading the SUV step by step. Front fascia will suffer the most modifications, including new headlights and hood. The rear end will be also revisited, while the engine lineup remains the same as before.

2019 Mitsubishi ASX Specs

Mitsubishi’s SUV is using seven different drivetrains all over the world. However, none market is getting all of them. Spread all over the globe, the company offers petrol and diesel variants. The 2019 Mitsubishi ASX in Europe will use a 1.6-liter four-pot engine. This is the newest unit in the family. Buyers of the ASX will get 120 hp-rated unit if they decide to purchase this engine.

Another solution is a 1.8-liter, also four-cylinder powertrain. This mill is using a turbocharger to boost overall horsepower rating. So, it can create 140 hp. However, this is not the most potent petrol engine in the offer, since 2019 Mitsubishi ASX will also use a 2.0-liter unit with 150 horses in its clips.

Engines for Other Markets

The 2019 Mitsubishi ASX, or Active Sports Crossover, could borrow diesel engines from its siblings in other markets. For example, it is likely that ASX will carry a 1.8-l turbodiesel DI-D under the hood. Engines used by the US version of Outlander Sport are less likely. There, Mitsubishi installed a 2.0-liter drivetrain as the base mill and a 2.4-liter powertrain as the higher-end version. With it, ASX would be able to deliver 150 or 170 horsepower.

Changes on the 2019 Mitsubishi ASX won’t be big enough to start a new, fourth generation of the crossover. However, designers will modify both interior and exterior to make this model fresh and appealing. Modernization starts on the front fascia with new parts. Also, the rear end should contribute to better aerodynamics and better mileage.

Inside, the crossover will suffer even more changes. The appearance is keeping the recognizable shape, but new details and updates will be enough for this refresh. Complete redesign of the interior will happen after 2020 when ASX goes into a new era. By then, buyers can opt for higher-end trims to get more equipment and features.
