The upcoming 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS is a luxurious SUV that comes with seating for seven. There are V6 and V8 engine choices, the fuel economy is acceptable and tow rating is great. The list of standard equipment is long and the interior is comfortable and practical. The exterior design is very modern and nice-looking.

The 2019 model will not see significant improvements and there is no need for that. Main competitors are GMC Acadia, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cadillac Escalade, BMW X5Audi Q7 and Lexus LX 570.

Folding seats flat will increase the cargo area to the more than acceptable level. The 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 is standard on the GLS 450 model. It can produce up to 362 HP and 369 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is rated at 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

The 4.7-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine comes with the GLS 550 models and it generates up to 449 HP. Moreover, the torque rating is set at 516 lb-ft. Both engines are offering an all-wheel-drive configuration as standard, along with the 9-speed automatic transmission. The V8 drivetrain comes with lower fuel economy, 14/19 mpg to be exact.
