The Mercedes Company has also unveiled the new model in its lineup 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC F-Cell. This model is first time presented at Frankfurt Motor Show and it`s a hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicle. Similar to the design with the standard GLC300 model, the new one will get modified front fascia with blue accent on the grill and also it will get unique LED headlights. The F-CELL lettering sits below the body line. However, the side view mirrors on this model are remaining same. Inside the SUV one will get plenty of technology.
The interior of the hydrogen-electric plug-in hybrid is also identical to the standard GLC. The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC F-Cell will boost new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a new full HD 10.25-inch infotainment screen. However, as for the engine, it will be packed with a single electric motor that will provide 197 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
The fuel tank of this model can store 9.7 pounds of hydrogen, this quantity is enough for around 270 miles of range. If one is left without fuel you can run on 13.8-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery around 30 miles when its full. Furthermore, the drivers will be able to charge this new model at public charging stations.
There are no real rivals in this segment of the SUV, only model Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell will be the main opponent. The Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell comes with a hydrogen-powered system and a 24-kW battery that provide 265 miles on a single charge. Also, this model will deliver 134 HP and 221 pound-feet of torque, which is lower than Mercedes-Benz GLC F-Cell.
2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC Price and Release Date
The upcoming 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC starts at $41,500. Plenty of options are available, and some of them are premium, like design upholstery and paint. However, as for the F-Cell model, it will be priced at least $55,000.
The biggest competitor is Lexus RX, Audi Q5, and BMW X5. The new GLC midsize SUV will become available at the very end of 2018.
