The 2020 Lincoln Corsair or MKC is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV. The company launched this lineup four years ago. However, they are now leaving the old, MK- nomenclature. For some version, they only renamed the model. The Corsair will replace the MKC with the new generation of the crossover. This is not just a rebadging since the next model will bring more technology and advanced safety features. It comes out in 2020 and the company promised the new transmission as well.
With new equipment, the 2020 Lincoln Corsair will be ready to compete with like of Mercedes GLC, or Lexus UX. However, there are other luxury crossovers full of various features. So, what makes Corsair different from rivals and predecessor? Although everything is new, we believe that driver-aid features could make buyers spent extra money for this model. Well, there is a pair of turbo engines, AWD, and a new transmission if you prefer specs. Or, if you need a premium interior, you can always go after Black Label package.
2020 Lincoln Corsair Engines
The 2020 Lincoln Corsair will carry over a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine from its predecessor. Instead of a six-speed transmission, Ford’s premium brand will use a new eight-pace gearbox. It will help Corsair achieve better outputs – 5 horsepower and 5 pound-feet of torque more than before, for total 250 hp and 275 lb-ft. However, we are somehow disappointed that the company is not using the latest version of a 10-speed transmission.
The same gearbox transfers power for a 2.3-liter unit. However, it is not available only as FWD, like its smaller sibling. Lincoln added an all-wheel drive system for better traction and balance. The total output of this unit is 280 hp and 310 lb-ft of twist. Fuel economy numbers are not unveiled. We expect a small boost compared to the MKC. The hybrid drivetrain is possible in the future, but Lincoln is not providing any details about this plan.
Highlights
The new luxury crossover will be built on the same platform as the Ford Escape. However, the company is installing different drivetrains for the premium version. Also, the cabin is full of advanced technologies. First of all, it is more quiet than for the most siblings. Seats with massage and 24-way adjustment are something you won’t find elsewhere. Phone as a key is an app that will allow many commands from your smartphone. The optional audio system comes with 14 speakers. Well, the 2020 Lincoln Corsair will introduce new alerts. Instead of standard beeps, there are six new chimes Detroit Symphony Orchestra recorded specially for this crossover.
