2019 Lincoln Nautilus SUV is The MKX Replacement

The US carmaker, Lincoln, at the Los Angeles Auto Show introduced a restyled SUV. Until now we knew it as MKX, and from now on, it will be known as 2019 Lincoln Nautilus. The company showed us a basically revisited crossover. The vehicle got a brand-new front fascia. The rear end suffered modifications, as well as the interior.

In addition to visual changes, 2019 Nautilus boasts technical improvements. The old 3.7-liter V6 got a replacement. Now, there is a 4-cylinder unit with the pretty decent output. With the new engine, there are numerous enhancements to safety. For example, buyers will get Evasive Steering Assist system on 2019 Lincoln Nautilus.

First Impressions

The US brand announced that it will return to the specific model names instead of the letter-numeric nomenclature. At the LA car show, they introduced the new 2019 Lincoln Nautilus. However, the vehicle is not exactly new. It is rather a mid-cycle revisit of the MKX. Actually, we can speak more about the MKX crossover with a new nose. Launching a new model with a new name gives the ability to make a market breakthrough. However, this MKX to Nautilus transition is a somewhat comical change of name. True fans are not tricked with this try. Nevertheless, the MKX or 2019 Nautilus is still a good performer and stylish crossover which can lure buyers with its design, specs, and reliability.

2019 Lincoln Nautilus Name Change

An interesting story is the name change of the MKX. One of the marketing directors in Lincoln was waiting for a plane when he noticed a couple. Woman and man had an argue – which model of Lincoln crossover they have. Was it an MKC or MKZ? This was a clear sign that MK naming has to be changed. Instead, now we will see specific names, and the first one is 2019 Lincoln Nautilus.

2019 Lincoln Nautilus Redesign

As it’s said, the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus is not going to make too many changes on the MKX. But, at first glance, it seems far more exclusive. The biggest news is a brand-new front part with LED headlights, radiator grille, and bumper masks. This move was quite expected, and Nautilus follows the design school of the company that had begun earlier with MK SUV models.

Furthermore, Lincoln promises that four of the five designs of the wheels are brand new and that Nautilus will be available in the most expensive Black Label package equipment. That was not the case with MKX. Lincoln also made efforts to upgrade minor details. The mirrors are no longer shared with other siblings, and there are also many chrome-plated details, specifically on the Black Label model.

Colors

The 2019 Lincoln Nautilus will carry over few combinations from its MKX sibling. Basic pain jobs will be black, grey, and white. However, the company will also offer the combinations such as red, velvet, and blue. Furthermore, some metallic and matter schemes will be on the offer. Buyers if the new Nautilus will also pick lighter or darker interior.

Interior of the 2019 Nautilus

Unfortunately, it is obvious that 2019 Lincoln Nautilus cannot match the luxury of new Continental and Navigator. This is especially with regard to the interior. It is a big disadvantage since the US car manufacturer missed a great opportunity to make almost the perfect product. There are new seats that can be adjusted in 22 different ways. Buckets can also provide a message.

The sound system is remarkably improved with 13 or 19 speakers, depending on trim level. The wireless phone charger means that the owner will never have to watch the cables anymore. Furthermore, all models come with Ford’s new Sync 3 system for controlling media and connection to a mobile phone. Nautilus brings a 12.3-inch monitor and panoramic roof, which will be available on all future models of the company. Perhaps the only drawback of the interior is the expense of design and material quality. Lincoln is about to solve this problem in the next generation. The company also highlights safety measures with a large number of cameras and radars in order to provide a safer ride.

2019 Lincoln Nautilus Specs

The biggest update for the upcoming season is the new 2.0-liter turbo engine. The drivetrain develops 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. This is a replacement for the current 3.7-liter V6 engine we can find on MKX. Although the smaller EcoBoost powertrain develops far less power (the V-6 can burst 300 hp), the torque is identical.

Another option is the 2.7-liter V6. It is capable to deliver 335 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. Both engines come with a standard Start-Stop system. Also, the only gearbox is an eight-speed automatic. The drive on the front wheels is standard with all-wheel drive as an option. As with its MKX predecessor, 2019 Nautilus will not have a standard gearshift knob, but rather buttons.

2019 Lincoln Nautilus Price

With an initial price of around $ 38,000 in the domestic market, Nautilus will continue to be significantly cheaper than the German and Japanese competitors. Therefore, sales should not be missed. In the future, the company plans to offer the third-row version of 2019 Lincoln Nautilus. The overall impression is the SUV may not return the company to the old glory routes. Nevertheless, it is more than an excellent progress compared to MKX.

Competition

Rivals in the luxury class will be ready for 2019 Lincoln Nautilus. German carmaker Audi is preparing a new Q5. Also, Lexus is a true competitor with its RX 350. Furthermore, Japanese carmakers Honda and Nissan have their luxury branches. Infiniti, as the Nissan’s brand, is preparing the QX70, while the Acura represents Honda in this class.
