Toyota Land Cruiser is a close sibling to the Lexus LX. These two big rigs are sharing a lot of things in common. But, when you find a model called Land Cruiser Prado outside the US, that one is smaller. This is a counterpart to the GX lineup for the United States and Canada. Recently, we could see the new edition of LC Prado with a lot of changes. That means only the 2020 Lexus GX will suffer some modifications as well. Still, the test mules are confirming that something big is going on. With these vehicles on streets, we can say with confidence that the 2020 Lexus GX redesign could start the new, third generation of the SUV.
We can’t wait to see the new grille. On the current edition is seems smaller than on other siblings. Spindle grille on the LX or RX is a highlight of the complete front fascia. Still, there will be changes on bumpers and headlights to complete the all-new look. We can also expect a new shape of the rear end. A three-row SUV will be more aggressive. Well, designers will have to make it roomier inside.
Interior is going to offer all the latest infotainment systems. Toyota had its own Entune infotainment system. The new 2020 Lexus GX is going to carry over a 4.6-liter V8 engine with 300 hp. All-wheel drive is standard and the six-speed automatic transmission is a power router. A current model of three-row SUV is not too fuel-friendly with 16 mpg combined. The new one could add a mile or two thanks to the usage of lightweight materials in body structure.
But, the new GX will need a lot of improvements. First, to get a better fuel economy, the company could develop a hybrid drivetrain. It is still unknown what kind of engine will be the base for this breed of vehicles, V6 or a V8. Anyway, the electric motors will boost power production and save some fuel.

Lexus is working extra to make the mid-size three-row SUV available as soon as possible, and we assume they will preview it in summer. The sales will start late in 2019 or even early in 2020.
