Are You Ready For 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer?

Jeep desperately needs a three-row SUV. There is a response to their needs, but the FCA is still weighing options. The 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer could be a big comeback of the classic model, but there is much more beyond these details. It is not all about nomenclature and seating capacity. Experts and economists are making calculations about the big SUV, no matter how it is going to be called. Dealerships were clear – the 2020 Grand Wagoneer will have too much of a competition. Chevy Suburban and Ford Expedition are leaders in the segment. That means the FCA’s model wouldn’t have many chances to achieve good market results.

Whatsoever, we shouldn’t underestimate the automotive giants such as FCA and Jeep. Spy photos of first prototypes are there. The carmaker is well-known of its rich offer. Be sure they will do everything to make 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer succeed. SRT Hellcat engine and Trackhawk model are probably the aces up the sleeve. Whatsoever, there will be more affordable, but still heavily-packed versions – Trailhawk, Overland, or Limited.

The new generation of the 2020 Grand Wagoneer will bring versatility to the market. We can hear that Ford is making a hybrid version of its full-size Expedition. Rivals are responding with – Grand Wagoneer hybrid. But, that is not all, since the big SUV will also get a diesel drivetrain. So, the FCA is coming by storm for 2020 season, since big things we expect from its larger vehicle (for now) in the segment – Grand Cherokee.

2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Third Row

The third row seems to be the major concern for the FCA. Versatility is the key to success nowadays in the automotive market. That is why the company is launching a pickup truck with Jeep’s badge. They also think about the three-row Grand Cherokee. However, the best solution is to bring a full-size SUV with seating capacity for seven or eight persons. This will make the 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer a family car, suitable for longer trips. Well, do not expect too much from the third row. It will be best for children. However, we will see if designers are planning something spectacular regarding the interior layout.

Interior

The entire cabin of the SUV will be futuristic and modern. A design language could be borrowed from the Grand Cherokee or other latest vehicles in FCA’s fleet. Spy photos are not unveiling too much of an interior. Even if these shots send clear images, we can’t be sure the same cabin will come with the production model. But, smartphone connectivity, the large screen at the center of the dashboard, captain’s chairs for the front row, and a lot of infotainment services and features are guaranteed for the 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

Of course, the new 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer won’t have too much in common with the old model. Maybe a few things. One is named, and the second is size. Well, we could see some classic design solutions, but these will be only details. Besides that, everything will be redesigned.

Grand Wagoneer could use the body-on-frame platform, the same one the Ram full-size truck is using. The FCA is also replacing Dodge Durango’s unibody architecture with BoF. This will add rigidity. On the other hand, there are also pros for the body-on-frame concept.

Grand Wagoneer Configurations – Trailhawk, Overland, Limited

Jeep is well-known for its rich trim level options. That will be with the new big SUV. The entry-level of 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will be attractive, but the company is not going to offer some cool features to keep the price at a fair level. However, Overland is one of the favorites when we compare sales of Wrangler and Grand Cherokee.

But, probably the No1 pick will be Trailhawk. This one is adding parts for off-road adventures and interior comfort. Finally, the Limited model is packed with the latest infotainment and safety features that you won’t find on other trim levels.

2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer SRT Trackhawk With Hellcat Engine

Definitely, the meanest version of the full-size SUV will be SRT Trackhawk. We doubt the Jeep will miss launching a model that is capable to produce over 700 hp. Well, they offer Grand Cherokee with such configuration. A similar setup is going to be available for 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. However, larger and heavier vehicle will definitely change outputs of the SUV. We must wait to see the final numbers of the Grand Wagoneer Trackhawk.

How Many HP to expect from 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer?

The new 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer could be a three-row version of the Grand Cherokee. That means these two models would use the same drivetrains. So, the base solution should be a 3.6-liter V6. Popular Pentastar engine is capable to produce 295 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Going up the ladder, we find a pair of V8s. A more powerful one is a 6.4-liter unit with 475 hp and 470 pound-feet of torque. A lighter V8 version is a 5.7-liter that produces 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of twist.

That is not all. An abovementioned Hellcat engine is a 6.2-liter displacement. Equipped with superchargers, it is capable to deliver 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. A mean machine is not so kind to fuel since it returns 13-14 mpg.

Diesel, Hybrid

The new engine is part of the FCA’s lineup. Ram 1500 diesel stole the show at NAIAS 2018, but it will be applied for other big guns in the fleet. One of the vehicles that are getting a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 unit is 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. With it, the SUV can count on 250 hp and 440 pound-feet of torque.

On the other hand, the carmaker could opt for a greener version. A full-size hybrid SUVs are still far away from production. But, the Grand Wagoneer could get a similar setup as Ram 1500 truck. It is a mild-hybrid system with small electric batteries that boosts gas mileage for 1 mpg. However, by 2020, the FCA could develop a serious hybrid or PHEV drivetrain, capable to maintain the energy for large vehicles.

2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Release Date

The 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is definitely coming. Fans should be patient and wait for official updates. There is no way the FCA will miss on this. Although, the recent info about dealers’ concerns about sales could delay the vehicle for the 2021 season.

Photos of concept vehicles are mere fantasy and no longer believable. We don’t want pictures, we want the vehicles you are wasting time and money promising, with no apparent intentions of ever producing. Nothing but broken promises year after year about bringing back the mythical Grand Wagoneer. First it was to debut in 2015, then 2017 or late 2018. Next projections were 2019 and now 2021 or 2022. I’m NOT waiting for 2021 or 2022 to see this unicorn reborn. I have wanted one of these for many years but I now realize it will NEVER happen. Jeep either needs to pee or get off the pot. I’m moving on and buying something else for the long term. It’s too late. The Wagoneer is DEAD, GONE, HISTORY and rumors of it’s resurrection are false. Jeep can take their political lies and stick them up their obama. I’m no longer willing to buy into this fairy tale.
