Since the introduction of the Ford Edge ST, it has become clear as day that the segment of the performance-oriented SUVs is growing each and every day. The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe N is one such a mid-size SUV that offers great performance capabilities.
On the other hand, Hyundai lacks the experience of making sporty cars. However, the N segment showed that Hyundai has a good plan, as the two hatchback models were a good choice. Moreover, the N treatment will hit a couple of company’s crossovers, and Santa Fe is one of them.
2019 Hyundai Santa Fe N package includes a sporty design
As we said, two hatchback models i30 N and Veloster N came to the markets with the same design language, and the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe N will follow the same path. The N package includes a sporty design with the slim features and large grille up front. All of the chrome materials are going to be replaced with the black trims, and that includes the front grille and the part around the headlamps.
The bumper of the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe N is different and it includes bigger vents and a splitter. Almost exactly as the hatchbacks, this SUV will get red accents around the lower bumper and the “N” badging around the front grille. The side profile adds black side skirts and black window trim.
The standard wheels are gone and are replaced by much sportier units and the drive height is lower than before. The rear gets a black spoiler, dark taillights and an aggressive front bumper.
2019 Hyundai Santa Fe N interior gives plenty of modern features
The forthcoming 2019 Santa Fe N comes with a pleasing interior that offers great room and plenty of modern features. The dash is done in a three-dimensional design and it adds a larger infotainment display on top of the center stack. There are much fewer buttons than on the regular Santa Fe model and generally, everything from the inside comes with a much cleaner design. Safety is also great, thanks to the inclusion of the smart cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
The infotainment system also adds a larger display that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The wireless charging is optional, just like the 8.5-inch heads-up display. The comfort is great thanks to the heavy-bolstered seats that are available in cloth, suede and leather materials.
2019 Hyundai Santa Fe N engine
The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe N offers a wide range of engine options. However, the base 2.0-liter Theta II comes with not such impressive figures. This engine output is 235 HP and 260 lb-ft of torque which is not enough for such a performance-oriented model.
On the other hand, the i30 and Veloster models are using a much powerful 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit that creates up to 270 HP. Even that isn’t good enough for this midsize SUV, so we can expect an optional drivetrain that should deliver the right numbers. According to rumors, a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine could be in the line. This unit cranks out 280 HP and “N” variant should add additional 30 horses for the final output around 310 HP.
2019 Hyundai Santa Fe N price and release date
While is perhaps too early to speculate about the price, we know that the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe N will go on sale in the first half of 2019. The base model costs around $35,000, so the “N” version will for sure cost around $50,000. The main competitor of this midsize SUV is a Ford Edge ST.
