The 2019 Hyundai Grandmaster is a full-size SUV that was revealed at the Busan Auto Show in Korea last week. After a long time of declining the SUV class, Hyundai slowly enters this segment with the existing Kona, Santa Fe, and Tucson models. Last week, we had an opportunity to see a new three-row full-size SUV. This model can fit up to eight passengers and it slots above the Santa Fe.
The newest 2019 Hyundai Grandmaster carries the name that refers to a chess champion player and the Korean carmaker says that the name is a metaphor for the company’s SUV overhaul. This SUV demonstrates a sporty and distinctive exterior design, while the interior is both roomy and comfortable.
2019 Hyundai Grandmaster exterior looks similar to the Santa Fe model
The 2019 Hyundai Grandmaster borrows a lot of styling cues from the new Santa Fe model. Moreover, the Grandmaster looks like a futuristic Santa Fe. Basically, we can see plenty of similarities when it comes to the exterior design. That includes the side windows, taillights, and wheels. The front end looks astonishing and the Hyundai’s idea of large grilles will not depart anytime soon.
The Korean automaker claims that the overall design is just a presentation of a company’s new directions. This type of design will carry on all of the future Hyundai’s SUVs and sedans. Generally, the 2019 Grandmaster brings a unique sense of sportiness and the exterior looks distinctive.
2019 Hyundai Grandmaster interior is roomy and modern
There is not much information available when it comes to the interior of this SUV. When it comes to comparing the 2019 Hyundai Grandmaster with the Santa Fe model, the Grandmaster is a little bit larger. It has more room inside the cabin and it offers eight passenger seats instead of seven. We expect a two seating configuration, great comfort and heavy use of soft-touch materials. The second and the third row are easy to access which comes as no surprise for a full-size SUV.
Hyundai offers plenty of standard features, so we expect the same thing from the Korean carmaker when it comes to the Grandmaster. The upholstery is a big mystery but we expect a standard cloth and optional leather materials. Keyless entry system, Bluetooth, and newest phone integrations will be for sure delivered as standard. Steering-wheel-mounted controls, power adjustable seats, and woodgrain trims will probably come as an option.
Safety options
Moreover, Hyundai equips its models with latest safety amenities, and the 2019 Grandmaster will get the same treatment for sure. Some of the features that we expect are the forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist and many more.
2019 Hyundai Grandmaster engine rumors
There is literally no clue about the 2019 Hyundai Grandmaster engine options. On the other hand, Kia and Hyundai are slowly entering the segment of the electrified or plug-in-hybrid drivetrains. We can assume that one of the options will be an all-electric of hybrid version. On top of that, anything less than 400 HP for such a large SUV would be a nonsense whether we speak about the diesel or gasoline options.
Another important category is a driving experience and driving manners. Hyundai is well-known for paying a special attention to this categories, and nothing but the premium experience would hit us with a disappointment.
2019 Hyundai Grandmaster release date and price
The approaching 2019 Hyundai Grandmaster will go on sale next year. According to speculations, the first quarter of 2019 is the most realistic date. This full-size SUV pricing is yet to be revealed.
