The CR-V crossover is a compact car that delivers excellent fuel economy. Nevertheless, this is not the only reason why this model is so popular. In the matter of fact, the SUV is one of the most versatile vehicles on the market. It won’t stun you with power and torque output. However, it is still going to deliver enough excitement. Mileage is above average. Agility and handling are two other highlights of the crossover. On the other hand, there is always room for improvements, and we believe that new 2019 Honda CR-V is going to deliver it.
The redesign will make the SUV more stylish. Elegant inside and outside, the 2019 Honda CR-V should lure the attention of youngsters and older buyers. Those who already own one of its predecessors will spot notable changes at the first sight. Bumper and grille will dominate, but the rear part will also get significant modifications.
We’ll see some big changes under the hood also. No, the 2019 Honda CR-V is not going to change durable and reliable 1.5-liter turbo engine. It will get higher outputs with the 2.4-liter unit, while the performance-boosted model is not happening in 2019. However, CR-V will see a modernization with a plug-in combination. As a hybrid, this SUV will be more competitive in the market, and more buyers will opt to pick Honda over some other companies.
2019 Honda CR-V Redesign and Changes
Critics were not gentle with the current model. They mocked the appearance of the CR-V, and the quick response came from designers in Honda. Although strengths of this vehicle are numerous, everyone will see the exterior first. So, the decision is made – 2019 Honda CR-V must be stylish and aggressive.
Exterior
To achieve the more appealing look, the 2019 Honda CR-V will see few changes on the front fascia. Nose is going to be lower than before. Also, the grille will be wider and closer to the license plate. Bumper and headlights are following the design language. Minor modifications on lights will add aggressiveness but also boosts visibility as a part of the overall safety system.
The rear end will also face a revisit. We expect small changes there, without some big modifications. Wheelbase is going to be the same, so as the overall dimensions. With it, CR-V will keep its agility.
Interior
It is still to talk about the final products and features inside the cabin. But, one of the highlights on all previous editions of the crossover was the space the Honda CR-V offers. Passengers in both rows will have enough room for legs and heads. Also, layout creates perfect proportions between the space taken by seats and left for cargo. A true family car perfect for longer trips will also deliver it with the latest entertaining systems. The dashboard will definitely see some changes, but we still don’t know what are designers up to. Although these are in the same segment, the HR-V will look different than its sibling.
2019 Honda CR-V Safety
Safety will be one of the highlights of the 2019 Honda CR-V. Although the base model is not offering some advanced features, we can find it safe. But, from the EX trim level, everything will make the ride comfortable. The award-winning Honda Sensing suite adds few extra features. The 2019 season model will carry over lane departure warning and emergency braking systems. Also, we will see some new features, and we can’t exclude some kind of self-drive or auto-parking functions.
Trim levels
The 2019 Honda CR-V will continue to use the current lineup of trim levels. The base model is an LX. The EX will add more options, including a new engine and plenty of colors. Also, comparing to base trim level, the EX still doesn’t offer leather seats and steering wheel. These we find in the EX-L crossover. Additionally, there is a navigation system, which is still optional. Top of the class model is Touring. More of everything is there in the final package. However, it is tunable with various parts that will boost visual appearance and practicality.
2019 Honda CR-V Specs
Unfortunately, many fans wanted to see a performance-boosted version of the 2019 Honda CR-V. A Type R would be a great news, but it is not happening next season. While we are waiting for it, we must be happy with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder unit as the base one. Although the bigger one, it is under the bonnet of the entry-level EX crossover. It is capable to deliver 185 horses and 180 lb-ft of torque. The company dropped this unit for other trims in the last edition of the SUV. However, it should have one more run with an EX model.
The alternative is a new 1.5-l turbo-four mill with similar output. It adds few horsepower to achieve a total output of 190. However, there won’t be the difference in torque between these two models. We must say that Honda made a lot of improvements on the 1.5-liter unit, which is also a powertrain of some other vehicles in the family. But, in the CR-V, it delivers better mileage, which will in 2019 be around 31 mpg combined.
Honda CR-V Hybrid
The best is yet to come. The Japanese carmaker will add a hybrid version of 2019 Honda CR-V. Too bad, in next year we will see it only in Europe and China. Launch in the US is not confirmed yet. Combo for this model will be a 2.0-l Atkinson engine and an electric battery. The 2019 Honda CR-V Hybrid will probably use the i-MMD system, already available on Honda Accord. It will allow a driver to switch between three driving modes.
2019 Honda CR-V Release Date and Price
The 2019 Honda CR-V should be official in the first half of 2018. However, the company is not going to unveil all details, so we will see debuts of various trims and packages in few chapters. The final should be the premiere of the hybrid model. Dealerships will offer the new Honda CR-V in last quarter of this year.
The base model is not suffering too many changes. So, the 2019 Honda CR-V EX will be available from around $25,000. Other trims will also keep current prices, except the Touring model which could go higher with more features in the standard offer. The main question is how much will CR-V Hybrid cost? A plug-in version in Accord sedan has $5,000 higher price tag. The similar difference could be for CR-V, meaning we will see its hybrid from $30k.
