2020 Buick Envision Price and Redesign

The 2020 Buick Envision will be a new vehicle after the facelift. This is the first update of the crossover launched in 2016. Positioned in the compact crossover segment, the Envision is somewhere between premium and regular classes. Well, the controversies are following this model, since it is one of the best-selling vehicles in China. Its production is there as well. Some people in US don’t like it because of taxes and import duties. However, these predicted that crossover has no future in the US, but it is still there.

Buyers definitely like the cabin of the new 2020 Buick Envision. It is quiet even when the engine works more. Comfort is what makes this crossover better than others. All passengers will have enough space and materials used for the interior are not cheap. On the other hand, Buick needs to improve the fuel economy, which is really poor for the compact class. Also, handling could be better, while safety upgrade must start from better visibility.

Trim Levels and Changes

The new 2020 Buick Envision will be available in five trim levels. Standard offer for all vehicles by this company includes Preferred, Essence, and Premium vehicles. Now, the new Envision will offer the 1SV as the entry-level crossover, and the high-end version is Premium II. Two top models are getting the new transmission, compared to the standard offer and a six-speed gearbox. Outside, compared to the last edition, we will notice changes on the front fascia. The grille is coming with the bigger be-winged emblem. Besides that, there are three colors used in this area making the facelift more eye-catching. Bumper and fog lights are taking the lower position, while the shapes are becoming sharper. Also, Premium and Premium II crossovers will get HID lamps instead of LED technology.

Differences between trim levels are obvious. Only the first two offers are close with features we find inside the crossover. Standard edition includes push button start and the special isolation system called QuietTuning. The infotainment system is using an 8-inch touchscreen display and it is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The audio system has six speakers.

You can upgrade the offer by choosing Preferred trim that adds power liftgate and rear vision camera for easier parking. Of course, there are sensors as well. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto become standard. Essence will mostly upgrade safety. Cross-traffic alert is the most notable addition. However, there are also leather seats and steering wheel, which also gets the heating function. Premium model brings premium audio by Bose. Lane-keep assists with departure warning is added. Premium II upgrades the offer even further with head up display, cooled front seats, navigation, and more assist for parking.

2020 Buick Envision Specs

Under the bonnet of the 2020 Buick Envision are the same engines as before. The biggest mechanical update is happening on the transmission. Premium and Premium II trims will use Hydra-Matic nine-speed gearbox in combination with a turbo unit. The rest of the lineup will still pair its drivetrains with a six-speed transmission.

The base powertrain is a 2.5 four-cylinder unit that makes 200 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque. The company will use lighter materials for the upcoming vehicle, so the fuel economy numbers could be better. If this happens, we can expect the push from the current 25 mpg combined rating for the front-wheel drive Envision. All-wheel drive drops these numbers to 23 mpg (21/27 mpg city/highway). A 2.0-liter engine is an alternative. The turbocharged four-banger is ready to produce 250 hp and nearly 300 lb-ft of torque. Better acceleration and max speed are advantages of this version. However, it only uses an AWD and the drivetrain is available only for Premium trims. Fuel economy drops to 22 mpg. The maximum towing capacity of the 2020 Buick Envision is only 1,500 pounds.
