The 2019 BMW X7 is a 3-row luxury SUV that was introduced back in 2017 at the Frankfurt Auto Show. This SUV started its production in Spartanburg, South Carolina and we already had the opportunity to take a look at the images of the new model. This facility currently builds around 1400 vehicles per day and this includes models X3, X4, X5 and X6. In the 2016 year, this facility builds 411,000 vehicles in one year.
BMW started its SUV journey in 1999 with the X5 model and after a decade, the German carmaker has become one of the most important pieces in this segment. Years after, we saw a new X5 and sporty X6 models. The date of X7’s arrival is not confirmed yet, but we can expect it at some point next year.
2019 BMW X7 exterior is more muscles than X5 model
The 2019 BMW X7 will share a lot of styling cues and similarities with the X5 model. Basically, BMW managed to create an X5 with more muscles and larger features such as grille and wheels. The kidney grille is massive and is similar to the grille on some of the Rolls Royce models. A new set of LED headlights is added and just below them, a set of LED strips are placed. The highlights of this model are the new and attractive 23-inch alloy wheels.
The front bumper is unique and the overall front’s end look is distinctive and modern. At the rear, the taillights are almost the same as on the X5 model and even a rear bumper looks similar. On the other hand, some major changes will happen around the roof, the design is boxier toward the rear, and the windows are larger. A huge moonroof is optional and is stretched from the driver’s seat to the tailgate. If we compare this model with X5, dimensionally the newest 2019 BMW X7 is about seven inches long and it measures 200 inches from stem to stern. Furthermore, it is also wider and taller.
2019 BMW X7 interior is roomy and perfectly crafted
The interior is both modern and roomy and is compared against the most luxurious SUVs on the car markets. The cabin will benefit from some styling cues from the new 7 Series sedan which includes the dashboard and controls layout. The seats are wrapped in leather and Alcantara materials and generally, the whole cabin offers a premium soft-touch materials and surfaces.
A new iDrive 5.0 touchscreen is intuitive and it responds to the gestures thanks to the 3D sensors. There is also a 7-inch Touch Command Tablet that is removable and is placed on the center. Thanks to this innovation, controlling audio volume, navigation or phone calls will be easier than ever. Bowers & Wilkins Diamond audio system is added and it included 16 speakers. The customers can choose between five or seven-passenger configuration, the legroom is enhanced and thanks to the sloping roof, the headroom is also ample. The second row of 2019 BMW X7 is spacious and it gives maximum comfort for all passengers. However, the third row of seats gives decent headroom. Also, this seats can be power-folded just with one touch of the button in the cargo area.
2019 BMW X7 engine variants
The most likely drivetrain option is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that returns up to 320 HP and 330 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, the 2019 BMW X7 will hit from 0 to 60 mph in less than six seconds.
Moreover, a 4.4-liter V8 is a possible optional engine. This engine is borrowed from the new 7 Series and is slightly tuned. The V8 unit makes 445 HP and 480 lb-ft of twists. V8 will help the new X7 model to reach 60 mph in less than five seconds which is an astonishing result. Both engines will come with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and also there is present xDrive all-wheel drive as standard.
2019 BMW X7 Hybrid and diesel rumors
The diesel engine, for now, is not in the plan for the newest 2019 BMW X7 in the United States. However, from some rumors, the other markets may get one in near future. From same sources comes the news that another one engine is likely to come and that`s a plug-in hybrid. Furthermore, if the rumors are true this one will debut in the 2020 year.
Also, it will get a similar engine that powers model X5 xDrive40e. This model comes with turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and 111-horsepower electric motor. These combinations deliver 308 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. Furthermore, it also has the ability to go 13 miles in electric-only mode. We expect better numbers in the BMW X7.
