The new 2020 Audi Q7 is coming redesigned. It is part of the mid-cycle update of an SUV launched in 2015. Meanwhile, the Q7 is not longer the biggest model in the lineup. Now, Audi is offering Q8. However, they are returning to the flagship SUV to improve its appearance and interior. The facelift will bring some interesting updates. However, spy shots are showing these areas covered by camo. On the other hand, some leaking sources are reporting what to expect from the new Q7.
Besides the standard model, we will see a performance-oriented SQ7. Well, the base SUV carries the same engines, while taking most changes on chassis and inside the cockpit. Whatsoever, the 2020 Audi SQ7 will add another option. But, that is not all, since e-Tron is on the way too. However, Audi is not clearing it yet if the electric SUV is coming next year. All in all, we will see it as a prototype, at least. Diesel is going to be available in Europe only.
2020 Audi Q7 Redesign Details
The 2020 Audi Q7 will introduce the new look. The redesign is taking place and we see a lot of changes on the front fascia. LED lamps were not covered on spy photos and we have some clear sight on that. The size of the new Q7 will be the same. The SUV is using the same body panels and architecture. On the other hand, the front and rear ends will take a lot of changes. Some images are showing a smaller grille. The facelift also brings the new headlights and bumper. The smaller grille and thin lights will make the Q7 look wider and more aggressive.
Interior
More changes for the 2020 Audi Q7 are coming inside. Well, the SUV keeps a three-row 7-seat layout. Now, it will have more space inside thanks to the new layout. Well, we could only throw a glance on the prototype. However, this is not the final version of the SUV and many changes will be applied by the time it comes out. The dashboard is under redesign. 2020 Audi Q7 Drivetrains
There are two types of petrol engines for the mid-size luxury SUV. You might find a 2.0-liter turbo-four drivetrain too small for this kind of vehicle. But, it can produce 250 hp and 275 pound-feet of torque. Quattro all-wheel drive configuration gets power through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. A four-cylinder engine needs less than seven seconds to accelerate 0-60 mph.
More power comes from a V6 engine. Supercharged 3.0 displacement sprints 0-60 mph in just 5.5 seconds. It creates 330 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. The same transmission and Quattro system are the only options for this one.
2020 Audi Q7 e-Tron All-Electric SUV
So, the petrol lineup is unchanged. But, the new SUV might make a big move and introduce 2020 Audi Q7 e-Tron model. It will be an all-electric SUV with a range of at least 250 miles. Audi is challenging leaders in this segment, Tesla. Few other companies are also preparing EV for the SUV category, Rivian and Ford at first place. Whatsoever, the Q7 e-Tron could appear next season as the concept, while we won’t see its production in the next couple of years for sure.
Diesel Engine
Outside the US, 2020 Audi Q7 diesel is going to be more popular than models with petrol powertrains. A 3.0-liter engine is new and it can deliver either 230 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque, or 280 horsepower and 445 pound-feet. Engineers revisited these units for the 2019 season and added around 15 hp for each setup. Top of
SQ7 and RS Q7
Top of the line model in Europe is SQ7. However, it is powered by a diesel engine and this performance-oriented SUV is not available in the US yet. However, next season we could see either it or the RS Q7. The 2020 Audi SQ7 will get power from the larger engine. In Europe, that is a 4.0-liter unit capable to produce 430 hp and an outrageous amount of torque – 665 pound-feet (900 Nm). With this unit, a special version of the Q7 SUV can sprint to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds. The US version could use a 4.0-liter V8 we find on an S8 sports car. This engine can create 450 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. The 2020 Audi RS Q7 is definitely getting a twin-turbo system with 600+ horsepower.
